Craft Your Vision & Goals

Your vision is how you want your landscape to look and feel– think of it as your landscape’s emotional and aesthetic blueprint. It can include the emotional response you want your landscape to evoke, its overall aesthetic, or the kind of lifestyle you want it to facilitate. If you’ve made a mood board, then you’re already well on your way to clarifying your vision.

Your goals are about what you want your landscape to accomplish. They provide structure and direction for your project, and include things like functional requirements, environmental targets, and timeline and budget restraints.

The more clarity you find at this stage, the better, but remember that you will continue to gain insights throughout the planning process. You can refine your vision and set new goals whenever necessary. Most importantly, approach this process with a spirit of exploration and creativity.
